The pair met for the first time October 9 at the Castle of Laeken, the royal family’s official residence, in a “warm encounter,” the Belgian Monarchy said in a statement.

Saxe-Cobourg, the daughter of former Belgian King Albert II, won the right to call herself a princess earlier this month, following a ruling by the Brussels Court of Appeal, which said she was entitled to the same rights and royal titles as her father’s other three children.

Known until recently as Delphine Bo’l, Saxe-Cobourg launched a lawsuit in 2013 to have the former King recognized as her father. She claimed the King had an affair with her mother, Sibylle de Selys Longchamps, resulting in her birth in 1968.

Thousands of Thai anti-government protesters chanted “Down with Dictatorship” in Bangkok on Friday, defying a government ban on demonstrations for a second day and in spite of a warning from Prime Minister Prayuth Chan-ocha. Police were caught off guard as the location of the protest was shifted by about 1.6 km (1 mile) from the intersection in the centre of the capital where tens of thousands of people rallied on Thursday. “It’s clear that Prayuth sees the people as the enemy. And we him,” protest leader Panupong ‘Mike’ Jadnok told the crowd. A ban on gatherings of more than five people was imposed on Thursday after nearly three months of protests that have called for a reduction in the powers of King Maha Vajiralongkorn’s monarchy as well as the removal of Prayuth, a former military ruler. Police with batons and riot shields rushed to the new demonstration and closed nearby roads and metro stations. “We’ve issued warnings against illegal acts,” police spokesman Yingyot Thepchamnong told reporters. “After this there will be intensive measures in enforcing the law.”

King Albert II’s Secret Daughter: How a Teenager Uncovered Belgium’s Royal Scandal

About 20 years ago, when Mario Danneels started asking questions about King Albert II and Queen Paola of Belgium’s marriage, no one in royal circles took him seriously. And for understandable reasons’he was a skinny 16 year old, still in secondary school, claiming to be working on a biography of the Italian-born queen on the eve of her 60th birthday.

‘I was always very clear. I was telling people that it was very simple, but very few believed me. They thought that it would result in something for school, but I had a publisher and I told everyone that,’ Danneels told Vanity Fair on Tuesday’hours after the royal sex scandal he reported two decades ago concluded in unprecedented fashion. On Monday, after a seven-year legal battle that involved a Jerry Springer-like-DNA-test debacle (more on that later), Albert II acknowledged that 51-year-old artist Delphine Bo’l is his daughter, resulting from a reportedly 18-year affair he had with Belgian aristocrat Sybille de Selys Longchamps.

Inside scandal-rocked Danske Estonia and the shell-company ‘factories’ that served it

In that moment, in 2014, one of the largest money laundering scandals in history was starting to unravel in the scandal’s unlikely banking hub of Tallinn, Estonia, capital of one of the Baltic States, three little countries tucked between Russia and the Baltic Sea in Northern Europe.

Newly leaked Estonian police files, including internal paperwork taken from Danske Estonia, reveal the extraordinary steps a tiny division of the Tallinn bank took to serve a shadowy, and highly lucrative, clientele largely from Russia and from former Soviet republics and satellites in Eastern Europe and Central Asia. The documents show that many bank accounts were held in the name of U.K. vehicles, known as ‘limited liability partnerships,’ or LLPs, and ‘limited partnerships,’ LPs, which had no purpose other than to hide the identity of who really owned the money.
