[ Real Reason why Sasha Banks was not on SmackDown last… ]

Sasha Banks was recently crowned Sports Illustrated’s 2020 Wrestler of the year. While the WWE acknowledged the achievement, the Blue Brand’s women’s champion was nowhere to be seen on the latest episode of Friday Night SmackDown.

Carmella, the women she’s feuding with, was seen on the show and brought up Banks. The Boss however, never made an appearance on the show. The SmackDown Women’s champion surprisingly did not follow up her massive accomplishment and now we know why.

According to Ringside News, Sasha Banks was present the Tropicana Field this week. She was medically cleared to compete too. However, she was not used. According to the report, the common answer they received was ‘no creative direction.’

10 Big Concerns Heading Into WWE TLC 2020

WWE has done a pretty great job of booking Carmella since she returned. It hasn’t been perfect, but all things considered, it’s been pretty strong – and that’s what she needs to be if she’s going into battle with a red hot Sasha Banks.

Naturally, solid booking does create a little concern that ‘Mella might actually upset ‘The Boss’. As for why that would be a bad thing? Well, there are a number of reasons.

Sure, it’s hard to forget about that awful title reign she had over two years back, but with the right booking, it would be possible. No, the real problem is the fact that it’s much too soon to take the gold from Sasha Banks – who is on a roll after returning strong and defeating Bayley inside Hell In A Cell. To take the belt from her now would undercut the conclusion of one of this year’s most impressive long-form storylines.

Has Seth Rollins’ WWE return been delayed?

Last week, on the Christmas day edition episode of Friday Night Smackdown, WWE announced that Seth Rollins would be returning to the blue brand this Friday. However, over the past 24 hours, all of the references to his return have been deleted from social media. There is no mention of the Messiah on the preview for this week’s show as well.

As of this writing, there is no explanation as to why Rollins’ return has been nixed for the New Year’s edition of SmackDown. It could have happened for a variety of reasons that we will not be speculating about here. All we do know for now is Rollins’ return has been delayed until later into 2021.

McGuire’s Mondays: A New Year brings new hope for new ideas in pro wrestling

Anyway, a new year always means new goals, new hopes, new achievements, and with that also comes a bevy of people who write for websites attempting to talk into existence everything they hope to see happen in the next 12 months. It’s kind of fun, really. All you have to do is say, ‘I think Kota Ibushi should become the IWGP Heavyweight Champion and IWGP Intercontinental Champion in 2021,’ and within three days, boom ‘ your wish has come true.

That said, I thought I’d break down five things (or more) I’m hoping to see in the pro wrestling world throughout the coming year. Because with 361 days left, we’ve gotta believe something good is coming around the corner after the dumpster fire that was 2020, don’t we? Oh, we don’t? We’re still doomed to repeat the misgivings of our past as long as we don’t learn from it? Damn. All right, then.

WWE SmackDown Superstar Tier List 1.0

Shake off that New Year’s Eve hangover with our newest franchise ‘ tracking where each Superstar stands among’their peers.

I’m an avid reader of wrestling content on Reddit, and years back, a series of images called the “Kayfabe Tier List” were my favorite posts to keep up with on the site.

* * *

The Kayfabe Tier List served as a great reference point’and triggered intense debate,’since, as we all know, wrestling fans never agree on anything.

The purpose of the list was to group WWE Superstars in separate categories and track whether they moved up or down the card as storylines progressed.

Ranking the 20 Best WWE and AEW Matches of 2020

2020 has been tough for so many reasons. We have all struggled with a lot, from the enforced isolation and lack of opportunities to the losses of so many too young. Professional wrestling was one of true bright spots of a down year.

Even though it took time for WWE and All Elite Wrestling to safely adjust, the companies gave us an unforgettable product.

Wrestlers stepped up like they never had before. Sasha Banks and Bayley carried WWE through a time with no fans. Drew McIntyre and Roman Reigns became franchise players in WWE, especially once the promotion instituted the ThunderDome.
