20 pounds of marijuana seized in Highland County mail bust

Shown are 20 bags of marijuana that authorities believe were shipped from Nevada to a residence in Highland County.

A Hillsboro woman is facing criminal charges after police say she had 20 pounds of marijuana shipped to her this week through the United States Postal Service.

Highland County Sheriff Donnie Barrera said in a news release that Alyssa Bellow, 20, admitted to having a package shipped to her containing roughly $100,000 worth of marijuana. Barrera told The Times-Gazette that investigators believe the package came from Nevada.

Barrera said the USPS contacted the sheriff’s office on Tuesday reporting a suspicious package scheduled for delivery in Highland County.

Man gets jail time for Ridley bank heist

MEDIA COURTHOUSE >> A Delaware man convicted of robbing a TD Bank in Ridley Township back in 2016 was sentenced Friday to serve state jail time.

Jabari Beeks, 28, of the 300 block of 23rd Street in Wilmington, was sentenced to serve three years and nine months to seven years and six months state time, Delaware County District Attorney Katayoun M. Copeland announced in a release.

Beeks was remanded to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution in Wilmington to serve the sentence since he is currently serving a sentence for a robbery conviction committed in Delaware.

Surveillance images help Newark Police ID neck

Authorities said video and photo surveillance tied four individuals to multiple crimes in the area. Police said three of those individuals have been charged: 25-year-old Adrian Jefferson, of Wilmington, 27-year-old Carianne Weikel, of Newark, and 26-year-old Edward Adkins, of Newark.’

On Thursday, July 26, 2018, Newark Police said they pulled over a vehicle around 4:45 p.m. containing the three identified suspects in the area of Westfield Drive. A search warrant executed on the vehicle led to the discovery of incriminating evidence, police said.’

Adkins was charged with eight counts theft under $1,500, three counts third-degree conspiracy, two counts driving while suspended or revoked, possession of drug paraphernalia, and failure to have insurance in possession. He was committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution in lieu of $5,600 secured bond.’
