Who will be the inaugural WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions?

Long time WWE fans know that there was a time in the past that the promotion did indeed have a women’s tag team division. During a time when the WWWF, precursor to the modern WWE, was a part of the National Wrestling Alliance, their roster members Princess Victoria and Velvet McIntyre were the reigning NWA Women’s tag team champions. When the WWWF withdrew from the NWA, the duo were recognized as the inaugural WWWF Women’s Tag Team Champions.

They would be one of only three tandems to hold the women’s tag team gold. The other teams were the Glamour Girls (Leilani Kai and Judy Martin, managed by Jimmy Hart) and the Jumping Bomb Angels (Japanese stars Noriyu Tateno and Itzuki Yamazaki.)

WWE Spoiled The Remaining Teams In The Women’s Tag Team Elimination Chamber Match

It’s been weeks now since Alexa Bliss announced on Raw that the new WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships will be awarded at Elimination Chamber, where three teams from Raw and three teams from Smackdown will compete in the chamber to become the inaugural Women’s Tag Team Champions.

Since that initial announcement, we’ve begun to learn for sure who the teams will be. The Riott Squad defeated Natalya and Dana Brooke for a place in the chamber, then Nia Jax and Tamina defeated Alexa Bliss and Mickie James to earn their place as well. On Smackdown, where there aren’t enough female mid-carders to have qualifying matches, Sonya Deville and Mandy Rose declared for the match. Over the weekend, the IIconics did the same on social media. That only leaves spots for two teams, one from Raw and one from Smackdown.

Updated WWE Elimination Chamber 2019 Match Card and Bold Predictions

The road to WrestleMania 35 will run through Satan’s Prison this Sunday when WWE Elimination Chamber 2019 emanates live from the Toyota Center in Houston. The ninth installment of the event promises to be nothing short of stellar and surprising considering what will be on tap.

As has been the case since its inception in 2010, the pay-per-view will host two Elimination Chamber matches. One will determine the inaugural WWE Women’s Tag Team champions, while the other will see six of SmackDown Live’s finest fight for the WWE Championship.

Elsewhere on the card, The Miz and Shane McMahon will defend their SmackDown Tag Team Championship for the first time against The Usos while Ruby Riott vies for Ronda Rousey’s Raw Women’s Championship. Braun Strowman will also have revenge on his mind when he takes on Baron Corbin one-on-one.
