WWE announced some high profile matches for this week.

[ WWE Might Have Big Plans in Store for Raw Women’s Champion Asuka ]

WWE Raw Women’s Champion Asuka faces a tough task on Monday Night Raw. WWE announced some high profile matches for this week. One of those high profile contests will see the returning Mickie James challenge Asuka for the Raw Women’s Title.

Asuka has had a roller coaster ride since winning the vacant Raw women’s Championship after Lynch revealed she was pregnant. Since then, she has had a back-and-forth rivalry with Sasha Banks and Bayley.

Recently on SmackDown, Sasha Banks and Bayley’s friendship ended after the latter attacked the former. This has removed Banks from the picture and will help Asuka concentrate on something new.

WWE Raw Preview (9/14) – Raw Women Championship ‘ Asuka (c) vs. Mickie James

This has been expected since Asuka and Mickie James’ paths crossed a couple of weeks back on WWE Raw, and it should be a good one.

With the Raw women’s division seemingly lacking anyone the powers that be want to push for the Raw Women’s Championship, the time for a James and Asuka rivalry is perfect.

They’ll give the older fans a fun contest between the two generations, and since both women are still among the best wrestlers around, we expect a good to great match.

Since missing a year due to an injury, James came back and immediately set her sights on the top prize, the Raw Women’s Championship.

Asuka Missed Huge Match For WWE Raw Women’s Title at Clash Of Champions 2020

Asuka is the WWE Raw Women’s Champion who is yet to receive an opponent for her title defense at Clash Of Champions 2020. It’s certain that her title will be up for grans on this particular pay-per-view unlike Payback as this is one particular night where each of the championships in WWE remains on the line. It seems like a big match for the champion was canceled.

The original plan for Asuka at Clash Of Champions 2020 was that she was supposed to defend against Shayna Baszler, according to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter. As for now, there’s no replacement declared by the source as the challenger’s name remains up in the air. But the name of Baszler is wiped out, for now.

WWE Planning Big Push For Popular Star In Response To Fan Support

WWE has been pulling off a number of big surprises on SmackDown, and another one could be on the way.

Naomi’s push hasn’t come to fruition just yet, but that may change as she continues to be a major fan favorite.

Truth be told, there are dozens upon dozens of superstars who are deserving of a ‘deserves better’ hashtag, including a number of male performers ranging from Mustafa Ali to Chad Gable. But the one barely-featured superstar with the most fan support at the moment is indeed Naomi, who doesn’t have quite the backing of Daniel Bryan’s Yes Movement or Kofi Kingston’s #KofiMania but is nonetheless in a position in which WWE clearly isn’t getting the most of her tremendous talents.
